Ok, i'll try to explain this.  When I add a new disc to my collection it always assigns it as number 324 (even though I have over 1400).  So I click on Collection and choose reassign collection numbers, choose reassign all and order by release date.  Everything seems fine, the new disc is now the latest in my list.  Today, I looked a little closer.  The new disc was given the number 324, and I scrolled to it and clicked to personalize.  On the personalize window beside of the collection number box is a warning symbol that when hovered on states "Collection number in use by: -".  As I don't have any movies with the title of "-" I can't figure what the problem is.  I have done several repairs and none have fixed this.  Any ideas?

Yes, I have tried and it assigns the new disc the number 325 and adjusts all the numbers above that accordingly.  Then when looking in my list, the number 324 does not show at all.  In addition, when I do partial reassignment with order by release date checked, the disc reassigned from 324 to 325 does not get moved into release date ordering.

Don't know if it matters, but I just noticed that under the Owned tab is listed - Total DVDs: 1434 -  Filtered: 1433.  All the filters are cleared however.  Curious.

Man, I really don't want to re-scan all my collection.  It would take a while.

That's how I remember it too. I once had such a ghost profile - it was extremely hard to get rid of.

Sounds like what I remember; adding a bit more detail - back up your collection (Fiel -> Backup Database), then do a restore (File -> Restore Database) then on the options screen select the Restore Specific Profiles radio button, then Select All and OK.

If this doesn't work try creating a new blank database (File -> Open Database -> New Database) and repeat the above restoring to the new database rather than over your old one... that way you can delete the old non-working database (as per Silence's comment) AFTER you've made sure it works rather than before

A renumber should overwite its old number though... it does for me anyway.

Ok, I did a full backup and restored to a new database.  When the window comes up that lets you choose to restore specific profiles, the first profile on that list was blank (no name).  So I selected all and un-ticked the first profile.  It seems to have worked as I now have 1433 total and 1433 filtered showing and after reassigning the numbers  324 is there.  I moved the latest disc back to the ordered list and re-scanned it and it went in as the latest number (as it should).
