| Posted: | | | | I received "Dexter: The Sixth Season" from a reliable trader on eBay. Brand new, factory sealed. But, upon opening it, it's noticeably cheaper packaging than Seasons 1 to 5.
This is a single Keep Case with Slip Case over it. (1-5 were several THINpaks).
The Slip Case has a strange finish to it and the 'thumb-hole' (present in the online profile @ 5014437165336) is missing on the back.
All the DVDs are Single Layer. (Seasons 1 - 5 are all Dual Layer).
My trusty old Pioneer struggles with this Season, but has played all the others fine.
Can anyone else, who has this DVD from the United Kingdom locality, please confirm the Disc IDs for their copy? (5014437165336)
If it's a pirate copy, it's a damn good one. But it seems like it's not up to Paramount standards.
My disc IDs are as follows - 3CA82B4F5B435612 [DEXTER_SEASON_6_DISC_1] 7DB63FC63B03C91C [DEXTER_SEASON_6_DISC_2] 4CDAC688D98F4C9A [DEXTER_SEASON_6_DISC_3] 705EEFECB1507689 [DEXTER_SEASON_6_DISC_4]
To confuse matters even further, the disc descriptions for the online Disc IDs would have me believe the fourth DVD only has one episode on it. (They're normally split over the four discs in groups of 3).
The eBay trader seems to be genuine and states he doesn't deal in pirated material. His feedback is exemplary too. So I think he's going to be shocked if he has sold me a duff one. | | | Last edited: by GreyHulk |

| Posted: | | | | Unfortunately my next Amazon.co.uk that contains that season won't get shipped before Oct 22th.
But if it's still an issue then I'll get back to you. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Looking through the guys feedback it turns out he has been accused of selling pirate copies before - although it was a long time ago.
I just thought to check the Region codes on the DVDs. All come up as Region Free(!). Taking all the evidence into consideration, I'm pretty damn sure now that I've got a pirate copy.
Why can you no longer trust eBay?! Not to mention the many buyers who are obviously happy with fake goods. | | | Last edited: by GreyHulk |

| Posted: | | | | Sorry that it looks like a bootleg. I stopped buying from Ebay years ago because of this. It has been a good 10 years or more since I placed an Ebay bid. | | | Pete |

Sadly I'm not sure you ever could; in fact nowadays I think there are less bootleggers than there used to be but it is sad that so mnay buyers are happy with illegal goods even when they know, so long as they get a bargain price. FWIW I've not had a bootleg off Ebay in a long time and always check out all negative feedback before buying in case it's mentioned (amongst all the 5* voters who don't care)... but of course some will slip through and I'm sorry you got one | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | The packaging sounds right (except for the weird finish to the outer box): mine's a keep case with four discs inside and a slip case on the outside too.
However, my slip case has the thumb-hole, and my discs don't match the IDs of yours. There's also three episodes per disc.
My set also came with some free postcards, so yours definitely doesn't sound genuine. |

| Posted: | | | | Strangely my set also came with the postcards! I forgot to mention those. Although mine are more like photographic prints than postcards. |

| Posted: | | | | Well the trader in question has offered a full refund if I send it back. But he still doesn't accept any responsibility for it being a pirate copy. In fact, he argues that over 1000 other people have been happy with his DVDs. He doesn't mention whether they were pirate copies though. I suspect they were all pirate copies and the other buyers aren't as 'clued in' as me. | | | Last edited: by GreyHulk |

| Posted: | | | | Aren't as clued in... or just don't care. There is a lot of people out there that just wants the film/show. And that is all that matter to them. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I just checked mine too, they are all double-layer discs and the ids match those in the profile. |

| Posted: | | | | Well, it was sent back and I will spend the refund on a legit copy from Amazon (or whoever is the cheapest).
Most annoying is that Find-DVD are recommending the eBay seller as the cheapest way of buying it too! |

| Posted: | | | | Now you have his address, contact his local trading standards and include any correspondance you had with him plus any other reasons you believe he has sold pirated copies (such as previous negative feedback links). |
