Just to settle an argument I'm having with another user...

This is a about a single keepcase containg two discs with two separate movies. The profile is correctly set up, with a basically empty parent profile and two child profiles for the appropriate movies. We only disagree what to enter in the 'case type' field of the parent (box set) profile: should it be 'keep case' (to reflect the actual case type) or should it be 'box set' (to indicate this profile is a box set and has/should have child profiles attached to it)?

I always just use the actual case type the set comes, so I only use 'box set' when the set is only packaged as a box set. This other user is convinced we should use 'box set' in every case. Am I right, or not?

Without a shadow of a doubt it should reflect the actual case type (option 1).

The field is called "Case Type" not "Profile Type"

Case type = keep case, with profile type = box set

He means:

He has 1 keepcase.
The keepcase has 2 different movies. (edit both movies have their own DVD, so there are 2 DVD's)

So this is a Box set.

Now you want to contribute it, so you have to make a boxset.

You get:

1 Boxset
    movie 1 in keepcase
    movie 2 in keepcase

Is this right or is this not right? you can not call the Boxset a keepcase, then you are not able to add the 2 movies ( is this right or is this wrong? )

In this instance case type is keepcase.  Profile is box set.

If it were a box containing 2 individual DVDs in individual keepcases then the case type would be box set.

Wrong, Filmgek.

there are two different "box sets" in the program, it can be confusing until you get used to it.

When we are talking Box Set as a case type, then we are referring to a box, with 2 or more cases (usually keep) inside it.

When we are talking about the "profile type" then a box set is a profile with two or more movies in it.

So in this case, the case type must be set to keep case.

This may help.

Jesus H. Christ!!!  This ain't rocket science folks!!!

If you have a keepcase with 1,000,000 freakn' DVDs in it it's still a freakn' keepcase.  Set up the parent profile following box set rules with keepcase as case type.  Set up child profiles for each individual DVD and edit the parent profile to include the child profiles in the box set section.

You give as URL the page where you can see the different things you can put your discs in.

We are talking about a Box Set as in this:

"Box Sets" Containing More Than One Film

The term "Box Set" is used to define any release that includes more than one film. The main examples are:

Sets where each film is packaged individually, and held together in a package of some kind.
Sets where each film is on a separate disc, but not individually packaged. This includes gatefold Digipaks and 2-Disc sets in normal DVD cases.
Sets containing 2 films, one on each side of Dual-Sided DVD.
Create individual profiles for each movie in these Box Sets. Use individual UPCs if they are available or use Disc ID (read on a DVD-ROM) if not. Create each of these individual profiles in line with the standard Contribution Rules with one exception - Cover Images. If a film is individually packaged, use the cover images from that packaging.

If a Box Set contains discs of Bonus Material for individual films, do not create separate profiles for these discs. Add the information to the individual film’s profile as normal for a single film 2-Disc set. If there is a disc of Bonus Material for all films included in the Box-set, create a separate profile for this disc.

For the main Box-set profile, add the individual profiles via "Box set" button. The following Clarifications to the standard Rules need to be used:

Section Clarification / Adjustment to Rules
Title The title for a Box Set should be the title listed on the front cover, for example Alien Quadrilogy
Production Year Production Year for a Box Set should be the year of the earliest feature release in the set.
Running Time Use the combined running time of all the films in the Box Set; do not include running time of any extra features.
Rating If the Box Set has a rating, use it in the profile. If it does not, use NR as the rating. Exception: If any disc in the set is rated Adult, list the set as Adult
Disc IDs Do not include any Disc IDs on the main profile - these are listed on each of the individual profiles.
Easter Eggs Do not include any Easter Eggs on the main profile - Easter Eggs will be handled within the individual profiles.
Credits Do not use credits for the box set - Credits will be listed on the individual profiles. For additional information on handling of TV Series type releases see the TV series section.
Overview If the box set cover contains a listing of contents with brief descriptions of each, enter it directly into the Overview field.  If there is no overview on the cover, an overview from an included booklet may be substituted.  Otherwise, enter an itemized listing of the contents only, without descriptions.

In addition to the above, the following are not included on the box set profile: Subtitles, Audio & Disc Features. List them with the individual profiles.

The TS wants to know, if you start the contribution to make the Box Set if you call the profile where to put the 2 different DVD's in, call a Box Set or call it a Keep Case

It took a while, found my mistake in thinking.

Box Set as a actually case to put discs in.
Box Set as a profile to put discs in.

Thanks guys, still a lot to learn for me.... and 3.01 is not simple to handle too, a lot to learn there too.

Together we build a nice data base, thanks for your help.

TS
I'm sorry for taking your time, thanks for being patient with me
