I would like to know why the film Airplane! is not an Adventure film. The film is about a plane trip and the comedic events that happen along the way.
The Profile originally had Adventure and Comedy as the Genres. Then Adventure was removed, not sure why since the only vote was my No vote. And now it has been denied twice to add it back, without a reason. |

It just isn't. It's a slapstick comedy. If anything else, it qualifies as a Disaster movie because it spoofs disaster movie.
An adventure movie - to me - is something where people go out to do something adventurous. Or at least they find themselves on an adventure.
These movies are about people flying commercially from A to B and then disaster strikes without them ever leaving the plane / space shuttle. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

UPC#S 097360130546 & 097360309041. I added the Disaster genre with the same notes at first. Quote: Added Disaster to Genre
Film is a spoof of the Airport disaster movies of the 1970's
From overview: "Their hilarious high jinks spoof airplane disaster flicks" If I remember correctly I started getting negative votes on the second profile and modified my notes. In the end the 097360130546 genre updated profile was approved, the other was declined. |

| Posted: | | | | Given how subjective genres are I have found that it's seldom worthwhile trying to correct them. Better to just set the genres that one consider appropriate and lock it. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Genres is a very odd field where what I do depends on the situation.
when it comes to changing genres... I just set mine and lock it. Not worth the trouble to try to get one (or more) removed to add new one(s).
If the online has no genres set at all I will upload mine.
If I am adding genres to other existing ones... sometimes I will attempt to upload mine... sometimes not. Depends on how obvious the missing one is. If it can be questioned at all I don't bother and lock mine locally. | | | Pete |

The thing is: by your reasoning pretty much EVERY film could be labeled as an "Adventure" film, as pretty much EVERY film is about things that "happen along the way" in some form. For what it's worth: Wikipedia attempts to define the term "adventure film" here. |
