Today I prepared a DVD to contribute. Backcover tells 95 minutes and it runs also 95 minutes, but:
At 91:33 all end credits are over and the music stopped. From then for 3 1/2 minutes just black screen, empty, no sound nothing. I don't know why they put 3 1/2 minutes with nothing than black screen at the end of the film. I decided the film is 92 minutes and not 95 minutes. What do you think about this?

Just note in your notes why the running time differs from the DVD track length so that the next guy won't undo your work because he doesn't know better. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I'm guessing you are refering to the thread about The Deadly Spawn. I wouldn't say that there was any clear consensus. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | I've done this on a title or 2 in the past and those got accepted. I pointed it out in my notes just in case, so I definitely agree. |

| Posted: | | | | Sorry, but I have to disagree.
The running time of the Feature is the time it takes from the very first second to the very last. No matter what (or in this case "if") there is to be seen.
Otherwise the next discussion round will be on "Is the End-Crawl part of the film?" After all in the very most cases nothing happens there at all. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

The problem is how we define "End of Film". Just observe the average visitor in a cinema, they leave as soon as the end-credits start. Just try to tell them that the film isn't over yet | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Just try to tell them that the film isn't over yet What if, hypothetically, a DVD ran for 90 more minutes after the last credit rolled at 90 minutes. You'd really make the running time 180 minutes? | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | If it fades to black with no audio or video after that point then I would consider it THE END.
But if there is an easter egg or something hidden after the end credits I would include it in the running time. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |
