| Posted: | | | | I'm sure we've discussed this before ( this thread comes to mind, but the images in the initial post are gone), but I'm discussing this with another user and I couldn't immediately find a definite answer. So: does this qualify for ticking the "Slip Cover" checkbox? This piece of cardboard covers the entire back of the actual DVD case, and it covers about a quarter of the front. Additionally, this piece of cardboard is the only thing of the entire package that contains a UPC/EAN-barcode. Does this qualify as a "Slip Cover"? |

| Posted: | | | | Seems to be not unlike e.g. the UK Star Wars box (EAN 5039036048453) or the UK steelbox release of The Pacific (EAN 5051892020312) - the difference being these fold over the top of the box, not the bottom. These two have the slip cover tickbox checked. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | I think these are called J Slips. I would check the slipcover box. |

| Posted: | | | | I own a few like this. I've always seen them entered with Slip Cover in the database, so Yes! | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | I'd say no for the same reason the HBO ones aren't checked as a slip cover either (those go on the back and up around the top). |

| Posted: | | | | I don't think that it is a slip cover eather and I have admit that it annoys the hell out of me when people want to include that front part to their front cover scans (HBO Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, etc). It usually isn't anything more that some sort of ad, contrast to ad stickers which we can remove per rules. It completely ruins the front cover art. I understand that we must use it for back cover since UPC is usually printed there. |

I must not own the HBO ones that aren't. The HBO Blu-ray releases of Game of Thrones Season 1 & 2 (883929-191505, 883929-242986) both have Slip Cover checked in the online profiles. And I could be wrong here... but it looks like in the contribution notes to Season 1, you were the last to contribute a Case Type update? | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

That's because those profiles have actual slip covers under those cardboard thingys. Both of those profiles have butt ugly front cover scans with that Blu-ray ad attached too. |

In Germany these J-Slips (if used) quite often are the only place to where the EAN is printed on. In these cases what should it be then, if not Slip-Cover? Custom or ignored? And if I ignore it how would I justify the EAN and/or even the usage of the scans of the just ignored hull? Regarding the point of mreeder: And to me a car is only a car if at least 4 people have enough room in it to take a seat. Nevertheless the majority calls the Smart For2 "Car" and not "Elephant Roller-Skate", which would be more correct (IMO). | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

May be correct for your location. In Germany these J-Slips (if used) quite often are the only place to where the EAN is printed on. EAN on front cover? Please read my text more carefully. I was only talking about front portions of these cardbords. I even said "I understand that we must use it for back cover since UPC is usually printed there". See HBO EANs 883929-191505 and 883929-242986 mentioned earlier in this thread and you'll get my point. If I would get to deside we would scan back cover from these cardboards (because of EAN, Overview etc.), but not the front part (It's usually only an ad over front cover art). No slip cover checked. |
