| Posted: | | | | I want to clarify something: Are these (blasted) J-Sleeves or whatever they are called, that stick to most of the blu-rays that have a digital copy slip-covers or not. Because I have now a contribution pending for The Wolf of Wall Street that will take the tick away and I submitted a contribution for Blue Jasmin to take it away that got two no votes with the reason that this would add the media banner on top of the cover.
I think we need to decide that, because as of now about half my DVDs have it checked an the other half doesn't. | | | "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. In some cases the UPC#, overview and other important data are only on the J=Sleeves, thus I think that they should be scanned and contributed. The artwork should duplicate what the product looked like when originally released and on the store shelf. |

Not entirely true because if they unchecked the media banner option no banner is added to the cover and said problem goes away. Sounds like the problem is on their end. |

This is an interesting and valid point to debate. However, if we include the J-Sleeve simply because it contains then UPC what do we do for slipcases which include the UPC on the bottom and not the back? Right now we only scan the front and back covers but not the sides, top, or bottom. It's not uncommon for a slipcase to include the UPC on the bottom of the case. |

| Posted: | | | | The Backcover is no discussion, the sleeve paper with the UV Code informations has to be scanned. The problem is the Frontcover. From the Backcover sleeve paper over the top down comes the special Banner with the UV information. We did scan those Banners and added it on top of the normal scan so it looks like the product does look, this way: Now, when not Slip Cover is marked the internal Media Banner that I like comes over the top of the scanned media banner. This is the reason I and other did mark Slip Cover, to prevent this. Normal users don't know how to stop the internal banner. I am even not sure, is it possible only for a certain profile to stop the internal mediabanner or is it then for all what I and most don't want? So Slip Cover is the only proper solution so it looks good everywhere as it should, what is important for the 98 % of the users using DVD profiler but take as it comes, never read here, never vote, I know several of them. For me, Slip Cover is a proper solution as long as we have no possibility to mark in the online database a certain profile to not have the internal banner. Fritz When you edit a profile, go to "Cover Scans" and there are radio buttons next to "Media Banner" where you can select "On", "Off" or "Automatic" (which is the default setting). In this example, you will want to select "Off". |

I don't want to change anything about the cover scans or whatever. I just want to discuss the slip-cover. I actually throw them out as well and I find them incredibly ugly. But I accept that we contribute the covers with them. I just find it wrong that they are a slip cover because they aren't. I don't slip the blu-ray into anything. They're just stuck to the case. And I agree that it isn't necessary for the media banner because you can just turn it off. | | | "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. | Posted: | | | | it's a slip cover by default. They are a cover and since there is no J-card check box and no program change since the first mention of them came up. I put this situation back on Invelos.
Suppose it could be mentioned in other features, such as J-Card cover. But that would be to simple. |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe it's time to add some new options such as J-Sleeve and Faceplate or revamp the way DVDP handles these items. |

We do have options for slipcover and slipcase, and J-Sleeves and Faceplates are similar to those, not to mention different types of case styles. Do you recommend we get rid of all of those options as well? | | | Last edited: by rdodolak |

It's not a slip-cover by default because it is not one and we can, as you say, add it under other features. There is no need to use the slip-cover option. | | | "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. I personally don't think I own a single J-card DVD. I had no opinion when it was first discussed, and have no idea why it wasn't listed in other features. You would have to find out from those that contribute it as a Slip cover as to why they do it that way and what is the logic behind it. I think it is just another stupid decision, to call it a slip cover by a few and the rest of the lemmings went along with it. |
