When looking at the statistics for audio content I noticed, well, not a bug perhaps but a misfeature. I saw that I had more English content than I had profiles. That didn't seem right, until I realized that I was counting number of tracks rather than number of profiles.

So in ProfilerQuery 2.14.1 that has been changed. I now count both, and if the numbers are not the same I show both, as shown below.

Not a major improvement, perhaps, but I like to fix any bugs or anomalies as soon as I find them. And I tell what's been fixed. I hate updates that just say "bug fixes" or "stability improvements", like you often see on iPad / iPhone.

PS. Statistics can be detrimental to your peace of mind. Now I see that I apparently have a profile that has two audio descriptive tracks. That sounds odd. I have to check that out.

Not that odd, I have several. They contain audio descriptive in multiple languages.

An example: 22 Jump Street
  English Audio Descriptive
  French Audio Descriptive

A deficiency of the program to not be able to distinguish.

No, you're right. It's not that odd. I had just never noticed it.

But I'm a little confused by your last statement. Could you clarify what it is that you see as a deficiency? It's not clear if by "program" you mean ProfierQuery or DVD Profiler.

Now available: ProfilerQuery 2.15.0

What's new: I have added "Use previous result". By checking that, you can do a new run that uses the result of the previous run as input. One use for this is to be able to mix And logic with Or logic, like (A or B) And C. You would do this by first running the Or query and then selecting the And criteria using the previous run's result.

A more detailed example has been added to the documentation.

ProfilerQuery 3.0

Ok, not really a big update, but I felt that this might be the last one, and I have dabbled with 2.x for such a long time that I thought it was time to go to 3.0.

Whats new: Boxset special. If you check this box you can select parent profiles based on its child profile properties, and vice versa.

In the example shown I wanted to list boxsets that had Swedish audio in any child.

As always, if you have any wishes or other comment, please feel free to let me know.

Well, never say never. I thought I was done with ProfilerQuery, but I realized that it wasn't quite true.
When I designed the boxset special for 3.0.0 I did it based on what I needed for my own collection. But as I was using it I realized that I had overlooked something. For boxsets with several levels, i.e. boxsets with grandchildren, I looked at the top parent and bottom children. But after a while I realized that for other collections it might be desirable to look at the closest parent/child.

The Parent/Child setting in the Settings window is reflected by the gray box that contains "TB" for top/bottom or "N" for nearest.
You can double click the gray box to switch between the settings. But if you want it permanently changed you need to save it from the Settings window.

Come and get version 3.1.0 while it's still hot!

OK, I guess I wasn't done last time either.

I was playing with a small Profiler utility that I had built and it dawned on me that I might just as easily incorporate it into ProfilerQuery.

It shows all the titles from the input file (not just those selected in a query) sorted into a treeview based on their watched date.

Note 1: This doesn't take into account who watched them. Personally I don't flag anything as watched unless it was me watching the title. Feel free to ask for an enhancement if it is important for you to separate who was watching.

Note 2: The watch dates seemed very confusing in my collection. Not only did I find that I had watched a whole bunch of titles on Dec 30, 1899, but it also showed that I had watched up to 9 movies on the same date several times. I think I would remember any such marathon viewings. However, those seem to be the dates actually in my collection, so it's not a fault in ProfilerQuery.

Note 3: You might think that the same info is easily seen in Profiler itself if you order your titles by watched date and display the date. BUT... that will only show you last watched date. This will show you every time a title has been watched. And it displays it in a much more compact form.

The treeview is actually not built until you select the Diary tab, so you may experience a slight delay when you select it the first time after the xml file has been loaded. And yes, you can access the diary without actually running any query.

I have three grandchildren who very often watch movies at home, and I keep track for them of what they watched. For me, it is important to separate who watched what.

Well, that's settled then - User selection goes on the To-do list. I just wanted to know that somebody actually cared before I added it. For you, my friend, I'm happy to do it!

I added a combobox for user selection. If there is more than one user in the xml file, the box will show "Everyone" as default, and you can drop down to select a specific user. The tree will be rebuilt instantly.

If the file only contains one user, the box will show that username (and of course no other selection).

This functionality hasn't been tested as fully as I usually do, since I don't normally have more than one user in my collection. I added a few to one test profile. So if you find any bugs, please let me know.

Well, quickly and perfectly done. I have 10 users in my database, and it works perfectly for all of them. Great !!!
