I profiled "The Descent: WS: Original Uncut" and came across a funny thing

At the end of the cast list, the "Crawlers" are separated from the rest of the main cast, therefore I used a divider to separate them, and removed the "Crawlers" role from each as they now reside under the divider.

If this is done, and you search for the cast member in the CLT, you get to see the cast member under the divider:

But, if you click on the cast member in the profile, you see no associated role:

Which way is correct?? I want to say remove role from individuals if role is same as the divider because it's redundant, but I can see the logic in keeping it too.

If you remove the individual role for each actor you can't track the role as the divider does not pass this info.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Falcon:

I remove it locally, it takes a little time but...There are those that seem to want to be able to get a role associated if they search on an actor in the group.<shrugs> Seems silly to me, since most of the people involved in group roles are little known to unknown and I can always go specifically to the film to see the divider if I ned to. <shrugs again>

As GIGA has said - you need to keep the role on each individual otherwise the searching doesn't correctly reflect them within dvd profiler. And when I'm searching my database that's what I use - not the credit lookup tool.

And this has been discussed before I belive.. and the outcome of that was to retain the role on each person.

Neither.
The role goes into the "Role" field. A divider is not necessary.

Agreed: this particular kind of credit does not warrant the use of a divider.

And that's why the role has to be included anyway.

Along with an interesting suggestion to fix the issue.

It was also decided to use the dividers. So, while i do what i do LOCALLY. If Tim and Mathias do not want to use dividers they should likewise do so...LOCALLY.

I obviously missed these discussions...

I thought dividers were only used when they preceded cast with names/roles...eg.

Divider = Pirates
A Blogs as Blackbeard
B Blogs as Pegleg Jim

etc, etc.

But, if the the credits had a heading above a bunch of actors, eg.
Heading = Pirates
A Blogs, B Blogs, C Blogs etc,etc

Then we would not use a divider and just list the cast with the roles as Pirate.

Agree, but I'm almost always against the use of dividers

Your poll leaves out another option:

Lose the divider, keep the role.

That is the option I would have voted for.  As I said in one of the threads linked above, I only use dividers if they divide the cast.  I do not use dividers for group roles.

None! Don't use dividers for group roles at all. Dividers and group roles are completely different animals. Dividers should not be abused for group roles.

Dividers are not connected to the following credits. Therefore you loose them in some situations (e.g. when you click on an actor and show the list of films he's playing in). And there are no end group markers. Therefore you would have to abuse an empty divider for this. Sorting a credit list by name is also not possible if you abuse dividers for group roles.
